GRAND CANYON HIKES

Hike to The Bottom of The Canyon

On your first day with Grand Canyon Hikes, we will be hiking down the S. Kaibab Trail to the Colorado River.  This is a 7 mile journey that equals one vertical mile!  The wide-open views will amaze you as we trek down the switchbacks to Cedar Ridge and out on to Skeleton Point.  Watch your boots change colors as we descend into the earths crust.  We will pass through the 9 layers of the Grand Canyon; your personal guide will explain each layer to you in detail.  We will be spending our first night at the Bright Angel Campground on the North side of the Colorado River.  To get to the North side, we must cross the Kaibab suspension bridge over the Colorado River.  What an amazing view.  That afternoon, we will be enjoying lemonade at Phantom Ranch and cool our feet off in the Bright Angel Creek. At night we will eat a hearty dinner prepared by your guide, relax and hunt for shooting stars, satellites, and the Milky Way. Let the sounds of the rushing water whisk you off to sleep as we camp beside the creek.

Day Two is a five mile hike up to Indians Gardens Campground on the famous Bright Angel Trail.  To get there we will cross another magnificent suspension bridge over the Colorado River, the Silver Bridge and walk along the Colorado on the south side of the canyon.  After which we will turn up Pipe Creek and hike through Garden Creek to reach our campsite at Indian Gardens.  Most of this day we will be hiking along flowing creeks and where there is water, there are animals.  We might see some Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Lizards and the many other inhabitants that make the Grand Canyon their home.  Indian Gardens campsite is where you will be spending your last night in the Grand Canyon.  The campsite is a treed oasis shadowed by a huge Limestone Red wall which makes for a wonderful place to drop our packs and spend the night.

On day three, the hike out will be 4 miles of long switchbacks back through the many layers of the Grand Canyon.  The trek up will have magnificent views of Plateau Pointe, the chance of seeing a few California Condors that frequent the area and your last chance to check out some old Anasazi pictographs. We will have one last lunch in the spectacular Grand Canyon, take some photos and send you on your way.

This is the Grand Canyons premier hike. Please allow Grand Canyon Hikes to provide you with a medically trained guide who will show you all the wonders along the trail.  We can promise that it will be a trip you will never forget.  Our top of the line gear and our experienced, friendly guides will make a huge difference in how you experience the Grand Canyon.
